The city preferred by foreigners to do business in China usually have three main features. First, they must be cities already organized to accommodate citizens of other nations, where foreigners can move and act without too much difficulty, where the use of English, for example, is more developed. Second: they are cities where foreign investments are promoted with tax breaks and where the environment is ready to encourage and support the operations of a foreign company. Third: the infrastructures. The cities where there are areas already prepared and equipped for new foreign enterprises. Guangzhou, the major commercial and manufacturing area of China

Guangzhou is the third largest city in China (about 15 million population). Located in southern China on the Pearl River, 120 miles north of Hong Kong, Guangzhou is a major commercial and manufacturing area of China. Guangzhou plays a significant role in the national transport system and has a large commercial port. There is a special area called the Economic and Technological Development Zone, located in the district of Nansha. The international and Chinese companies are encouraged to make home here, especially in the biotechnology sector, self-assembly furniture and heavy industry. Chongqing is one of the largest cities in China: the urbanized area has a population of 7 million, the municipality has a population of 30 million people. The main activities include shipbuilding, textiles, financial services, fishing, food processing, machine tool manufacturing, telecommunications and chemical industries. Xiamen has business relations and commercial relationships with more than 160 countries benefiting from much foreign investments, especially from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan (nations that have played an important role in the development of the city). Xiamen is equipped with excellent infrastructure: roads, railways, port and airport are at the forefront, in recent years they have benefited from investments of over 30 billion RMB.

Tianjin: well organized city, with big annual growth

Tianjin is a big city (12 million popolation) in northern China at 160 km from Beijing. Tianjin is composed of two areas: the old city and Binhai New Area. Binhai is the area for development and is traveling at a pace of annual growth of about 30%. Many of the largest companies in the world have put their offices in Binhai, also including 285 of the Fortune Global 500 companies. These are companies operating in advanced industry, financial reform and innovation. The land used for agriculture occupies 40% of the total area of Tianjin. The production consists mostly of rice, maize and wheat. Qingdao (9 million population) is located in the eastern of Shandong province. It is a beautiful city, well organized, with natural beauty, excellent infrastructure and a high-level economic system. Qingdao is often cited as the Chinese city where the quality of life is better. Qingdao is an important city of the sea, with a large commercial port, oriented towards foreign, where converge also the goods from Beijing. Also in this city, foreign investment and foreign trade have been an important role. Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, is one of the largest cities (over 10 million population). The industrial sectors more developed are optic-electronic, environmental protection, automobile manufacturing, steel manufacturing, new materials industry, biology engineering, new pharmaceutical sector. The two Wuhan largest companies are the Wuhan Iron & Steel (Group) and Dongfeng-Citroen Automobile.
