Chungking Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Chongqing. Its location was once the Chuanyan Bank during the anti-Japanese war period (1937-1945). It became a joint venture with Hong Kong' s Fahua Limited and Chongqing's first star hotel opened to foreign visitors in 1987. It was renovated into a four-star international hotel in 2007.

Another feature of the hotel is its desserts and snacks. The moon-cake of the hotel is believed the best local moon cake. The hotel won the Gold Medal for National Trustworthy Moon-Cake Suppliers in 2004, Customer-trusted Enterprises from 2005 to 2007. Its moon-cake was awarded China' s Top Brand Moon-cake in 2005 and 2006.
